Ishaan Khatter and Janhvi Kapoor starrer Dhadak has not only become one of the biggest hits of the year, it has also become one of the only films to go past Rs 100 crore at the worldwide box office. As Karan Johar states, “A rare feat for a film with newcomers!” The film has made more than Rs 65 crore at the domestic box office and worldwide it is a solid Rs 100 crore.

Karan Johar took to Twitter and shared the news with an image and caption, “DHADAK!!!!! Wins hearts globally !! 100 crore WORLDWIDE GROSS!!! A rare feat for a film with newcomers! So proud of Janhvi and Ishan! @ShashankKhaitan”. Dhadak has broken several records for a film starring newcomers.

In terms of lifetime business starring newcomers, Dhadak is only behind Karan Johar’s Student of the Year. And looks like that figure will soon be surpassed as well.

Dhadak, which released on July 20, received mixed reviews but was loved by fans and movie watching audience. ZoomTV.com in its review of the film wrote, “Overall Dhadak is an excellent piece of filmmaking with captivating performances from Janhvi Kapoor and Ishaan Khatter. It is Bollywood commercial cinema at its best. I add commercial, because unlike Sairat, which had a very independent film vibe, Dhadak, from the first scene will feel like a big budget film. But it is worth every penny and you will walk out of the theatre, satisfied with your investment.”
